Well from last fortnight, Churchy was the one to beat, well that is what the rest of the AMCA boys set out to do on the V8 Dirt Modifieds feature night here in Esperance and didn’t they give him a flogging.

The first heat was played out in Slippery conditions, with Rookie, Craig “Electrifying” Morris in the ex WA20 Jock Murray car off his first Pole. Craig showed an absolute clean pair of heels to win by a quarter of a lap, Nothing Mad Mick could do could close the gap. We consider it a big warning to us all with natural talent showing through. Mad Mick Roost and Churchy Walker were to fill in the minor placings. But  a huge congrats to Craig on his first win.

The second heat was played out between Mad Mick and Churchy Walker, with Mr. Mad, making an inside pass a lap from home to take out the win, Churchy Second and Craig Morris took out the minor placings.

Third heat saw Mad Mick shoot off into the distance with the remaining field struggling with direction and consistency on a track that was better than the show that we put on. Mick won clearly, followed in By Greg Turbo Thornton then Mr. Electrifying himself. It was a pretty messy heat with all cars except “His Madness” struggling to control cars. Churchy commented that he thought his GPS had packed it in as he could not find his way consistently around the track like the previous week. Maybe Bill “The Poser” Govans had set a smaller track into his as he found the infield a few times on the night.

The 20 lap feature was dominated by Roost, Micks car was mad, completely hooked up, perfect lap after perfect lap to win the race by three quarters of a lap from Churchy, Craig, Greg and Bill. The remaining field struggled, but with mechanical handling issues to sort out, we will be back. As Churchy put it… “ I don’t mind Mick winning, but never by that margin again” Its great to see Mick comfortable behind the wheel, back to his winning ways, but the challenge is on… who is the pressure on now Mick…???
