Walker has another convincing win |

Well the AMCA's set to the track on the AUTO ONE STREET STOCK SOUTH EAST OPEN night with a vengeance on Saturday night with a very uncomfortable start heading through turns one and two and the back straight with the sun interfering nearly the whole way leading to a very high wide charge from Craig Electrifying Morris that went horribly wrong, turning an 8 car heat, into a 4 car heat. It would rate as one of the biggest pile ups in Esperance AMCA history with Greg Turbo Thornton being the unlucky recipient of ping pong AMCAs and then used as a launching ramp for both Lionel Kirkby and Glen Fiorenza. It was a frightening crash with cars left on top of each other, but a tribute to reactions, a slow start (in comparison to the rest of the night) and the safety of the AMCA vehicles, there were only a few bruises and some car damage to repair.
With some surprising speed from locals Bill “The Poser” Govans and JD Champion managing to hold out Churchy for quite some laps, the remainder of the race was uneventful with Churchy finally making the passing moves to secure the win from His Madness Mick Roost and Bill Govans then it was back to the pits and some furious work on the cars for the next heat. Heat two, saw Greg Thornton having to retire the Purple people eater with components in the front end too bent to be replaced, but all other seven cars making the start, by the first race standards, the racing was uneventful, however a few drivers need to adjust the GPS in their cars as the track is way bigger than what they were driving… in fact another 390meters longer. Craig Morris freaking out from the previous race, had car after car spin in front of him, ever increasing the need for a race suit manufacturer to bring out brown undies. However on a race declaration, Glen “The Fonz” Fiorenza took the win, just ahead of Churchy and Lead foot Lionel Heat three. With Lionel having retired his car to get a full mechanical check up at a later date and Churchy having found out that it was his brake rotor laying out on the track, which answered his question why he found it hard to stop his car on a restart in heat 2, we headed out once again for a pretty hectic, fast but clean race. With a multitude of passes for the lead between The Fonz and Churchy, once again a declared race intervened but this time the race win fell to Churchy, very closely followed by Glen and Bill Govans. The final was 20 laps go to whoa, From the start, Churchy took the lead and never looked back, it was a struggle for the minor placings but in the end it finished over the line 1/ Churchy 2/ The Fonz 3/ Mad Mick Roost who had a very quiet night by his standards Points on the night went to 1/ Peter “Churchy” Walker 2/ Glen “The Fonz” Fiorenza 3/ Bill “The Poser” Govans. Thanks to all the crews for working on each others cars and lending parts left right and centre. Thanks to all the drivers and crew who turned up for “yard duty” on Thursday and Sunday, with 6 able bodied people we cleaned that speedway from top to bottom in 1hr and 20minutes… a big lesson for the other divisions who think clean up duty is below them. And thanks for the brekky thrown in from Murray and Krisse…
