Smith outsmarts his younger rivals

Round 5 of the 'Cameron' AMCA Action Series was their first appearance on a Super Saturday for a couple of years at the Perth Motorplex. The boys didn't dissapoint putting on some great racing on a super slick Motorplex surface. The meeting saw the return of Fast Phil Zudeima, and Late Model star Jamie Oldfield got behind the wheel of Brendan Earle's ride.
Oldfield cleared out in the first heat setting a new track record on his way to the win, and Vanderleer drove a very smooth race to grab the win in Heat 2.
It was Peter Smith who was the most consistent in his heats to start the feature off pole. Peter then drove a faultless race mastering the slick surface and not putting a foot wrong. A pack of 5 cars behind him couldn't do a thing to pass the vetran driver and he came away with his first feature win for the season.
Peter is still campaigning the right hand drive Redline he started with 8 years ago but showed the hours he spends in the shed & great race craft will pay off. "It's not the newest, lightest, or most powerful, but we nailed the set-up tonight". It was a very popular win for Peter as he now has the dubious honour of being our only original driver since AMCA's started in the West.

The 'Cameron' AMCA Action Series heads south to the Esperance Speedway for the 'Electrical Service Solutions' Flyin Forty on January 9th. This will be the first time a race of 40 laps has been staged in the West with the hope it can be a regular occurance on the AMCA WA calendar.
