Morris has his Maiden Victory |

With no visitors this week to Esperance, 7 local AMCAs took to a very different track surface on the ‘South East Petroleum Super Mod Country Round” night of racing. It was a very quick event with gaps between races very quick and a track that was very hard to come to grips with or adjust any set up that would suit the complete lap of the track. But it was a good nights racing seeing Craig Electrifying Morris take his first heat win in front of a rear of field Mick Roost last two lap charge. Heat 1 on an already drying track saw nearly the whole field with “pushing Issues” and in the end, it was those who drove to the conditions that won the race as many cars spun out on the exit of the corner, yet found it hard with pushing issues on the entry. In the end we saw an engine issue retirement for Greg Turbo Thornton before a lap was fired in anger that put Greg back on the trailer. In the end it was 1/ ”Mad” Mick Roost 2/ Craig Electrifying Morris 3/ JD “The Punisher” Champion. Heat 2 Saw a mid race retirement from Pete Churchy Walker with a collapsed front wheel bearing and major handling issues that were to plague him all night, but was able to finish by crossing the line. Once again the track was a handful, but the times quick as Mad Mick once again ploughed his way to a heat victory followed by a hugely improved JD Punisher Champion and Craig Morris rounded out the top three. With a re-graded track for the third heat, all cars including new comeback blood Murray “Pothole” Parsons looking as if he should be called “Smokey” and an off the pace Bill “The Poser” Govans once again set out on a very quick but a little more consistent track surface. In the end Electrifying Morris took the win from His Madness and Churchy came in third in a very uneventful race. However, spin outs were still a highlight of every race. It really looked as if was going to be a Mad Mick final with the rest just making up the numbers, however a spin out causing the “Mad’ One to back into the stationary luckless Pothole Parsons on the infield elevated Craig into the number one position with two laps to go. Churchy with a borrowed hub from Turbo Thornton’s car found himself in a surprising second position with a Green White Chequered finish. What an adventure, Churchy barged as predicted, Mick came from rear of field, but could not chase a clean pair of heels from Craig and the feature finished as 1/ Craig Electrifying” Morris 2/ “Mad” Mick Roost 3/ Peter “Churchy” Walker. Overall points were 1/ Mad Mick Roost 2/ Craig Electrifying Morris 3/ JD Champion Congratulations to Craig on his first feature win and JD Champion for his podium finish. Next week 14th January we support the Modified Productions and the Super Sedan country series… then bring on Collie…
